Timothy Jung is a Chair Professor of XR and the founder/director of the Creative AR & VR Hub at Manchester Metropolitan University. He is also the Knowledge Platform Lead of Digital Transformation.
As a leading researcher in AR, VR, and XR, Prof. Jung’s work focuses on the application of these technologies in tourism, cultural heritage, education, and healthcare. His research also explores how AI, XR, and blockchain-powered metaverse technology can improve well-being and quality of life.
He has authored over 200 publications, including 10 books, and has received numerous accolades for his work. He was named among the top 1% of most influential researchers by Clarivate in 2023 and 2024, and among the world’s top 2% of highly cited researchers by Stanford University and Elsevier for three consecutive years.
Prof. Jung is a regular keynote speaker at major international conferences, the President of the International Association of Immersive Technology Innovation (IAITI), and the Conference Chair of the annual International XR-Metaverse Conference. His research has been featured in publications like The Guardian and The Independent.
