Dr. Frauke Fischer is a biologist, biodiversity expert, entrepreneur, author and sought-after keynote speaker. After studying in Frankfurt and the United States, she earned her PhD from the University of Würzburg in 1989. In Comoé National Park, she researched the effects of overhunting on kob antelopes and later headed the park’s research station. She returned to Würzburg after the outbreak of civil war and established International Conservation in teaching.
In 2003, Fischer founded auf!, Germany’s first management consultancy focused on biodiversity. In 2015, she launched PERÚ PURO, supporting fair market access for organic cocoa farmers in Peru.
She is the author of several books, including What Has the Mosquito Ever Done for Us? and How Whales Make Weather. Her latest book, Can AI Save Nature?, explores AI’s potential for protecting nature. Her award-winning podcast tierisch! explores the world of animals. Fischer is a sought-after speaker at DLD, corporate conferences and industry forums. She serves on IUCN conservation commissions, advises WWF and Volkswagen Group, and has written a column for the Frankfurter Rundschau since 2025. She advises businesses on biodiversity too.
