Digital training has always been one of BTO’s core and recognised goals. In an industry undergoing increasingly rapid transformations, updating skills and tools is no longer optional, but an essential requirement to remain competitive. According to the European Commission’s Digital Decade 2025 report, the situation in Italy is as follows:

  • Digital Intensity: only 26.19% of Italian SMEs achieve a high or very high level, compared to the EU average of 32.66%.
  • Artificial Intelligence: only 7.74% of Italian SMEs utilise AI technologies (and 8.2% of all Italian companies), against an EU average of 13.48%.
  • Data Analytics: adopted by 25.7% of Italian SMEs and 26.6% of all Italian businesses, compared to the EU average of 33.25%.

A winning BTO format

The highly regarded ‘BTO Toolboxes’ – which have already engaged over 10,000 participants – have evolved into comprehensive training programmes focused on reskilling, upskilling, technology transfer, and managerial digital culture.

This format is designed to guide tourism, hospitality, and destination operators from awareness to implementation, offering practical tools, case studies, and immediately applicable skills.
