Who really governs a tourist destination? And to what extent does the governance model affect a region’s ability to compete and position itself in international markets?
The panel, organized by ASSIDEMA and ADUTEI, compares Italian and international experiences to understand how the roles, responsibilities, and relationships between national and regional tourism organizations, DMOs, local governments, destination managers, and private operators are changing.
Drawing on concrete models and experiences, the discussion will explore coordination among different institutional levels, the public-private partnership, stakeholder engagement, and the link between governance, destination development, and international promotion.
The goal is to look beyond individual organizational models to understand which forms of governance are most effective today in building competitive, sustainable, and recognizable destinations that can engage with international markets.
