Since 2020, Regional Councilor for the Tuscany Region with responsibility for the economy and tourism.
Elected to the Regional Council in 2015, he served on the Committee on Institutional Affairs and the Committee for the Economic Recovery of Coastal Tuscany. In 2015, he was named an Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic for his handling of the Costa Concordia emergency. Active in politics since 1992—first as a city council member, then as mayor of Roccastrada—he served as President of the Province of Grosseto from 2009 to 2014. From 2012 to 2014, he represented Italy at the Council of Europe’s “Congress of Local and Regional Authorities,” and from 2012 to 2015, he served as President and Coordinator of the Coastal Action Group – Tuscan Coast.
