Beyond simple daily news coverage, hyperlocal digital media is evolving into a trusted infrastructure capable of connecting local communities, businesses, and travelers. In a digital landscape that is often fragmented and characterized by superficial narratives, tourism promotion requires authoritative and deeply rooted points of reference.
In this panel organized by ANSO (National Association of Online Press), we will explore how local publishers become true Ambassadors of the Region: key figures capable of capturing the essence of these places, safeguarding their digital reputation, and steering the flow of visitors, their choices, interests, and motivations for travel and exploration toward the culinary, artisanal, and cultural treasures of our peninsula.
The event will demonstrate how community-based journalism transforms the local community (Local Tribes) into the primary point of welcome and how publishers can position themselves as strategic hubs in the governance and sustainable development of destinations.
Key Takeaways for the BTO audience:
- As DMOs, destinations, and tourism promotion organizations can forge strategic partnerships with hyperlocal media, including to promote the local food and wine offerings and experiences related to local products and traditions.
- Practical methods for engaging Local Tribes (resident communities) and transforming them into transparent ambassadors for the region.
- Strategies to protect and enhance the destination’s trust and digital reputation in the face of fragmented content or content generated by social networks.
